07-Ghost
At Barsburg Empire’s Military Academy, elite recruits learn to channel Zaiphon, a power shaped by each soldier’s nature and used in battle. Teito Klein stands out as one of the academy’s finest students, even while others mock him as a sklave—a German word for slave—and his lack of memories. His carefully controlled path toward the final examination changes when he discovers a disturbing connection between his forgotten past and the empire’s power.
Teito’s personal stakes become sharper when he tries to kill Ayanami, the high-ranking official responsible for his father’s death. The failed attempt leaves him imprisoned, but his closest friend, Mikage, refuses to abandon him and helps him get away. Teito finds refuge in the church of the 7th District, where its bishops take him in. From there, he must stay beyond Ayanami and the military’s reach while piecing together his identity and confronting the possibility that he can alter the world’s fate.
Blending action, fantasy, and drama, 07-Ghost makes memory and identity inseparable from questions of loyalty, power, and destiny. The contrast between academy discipline, personal loyalty, and church sanctuary gives the story an emotional core, while the continuing threat from the military keeps its personal struggle tied to a larger fate. As a finished 2009 TV series, it presents its story across 25 episodes. Begin with episode 1 to follow Teito’s journey from gifted cadet to fugitive seeking answers.
