Battle Royal High School
Hyoudo Riki is an otherwise ordinary student with an unusual hobby: he wears a tiger mask for Kung-Fu fighting. His life at Battle Royal High School changes when a dimensional gateway links his world to the Dark Realm. Riki is the double of Byoudo, the realm’s master, and that connection places him at the center of an attempted invasion. With his classmates endangered, survival replaces any ordinary school concern.
As the Fairy Master manipulates Byoudo into trying to conquer the brighter human world, Riki becomes partly possessed by his counterpart. Meanwhile, the Fairy Master’s minions transform his classmates into hideous, lust-driven monsters. The crisis also draws in a sword-wielding exorcist and Zankan, a heroic officer of the Space-Time Police. Riki’s mid-term is no longer about passing: its stakes are life and death.
Blending science fiction with action and horror, the OVA turns a school setting into a collision point for parallel realms, occult danger, and chaotic combat. Its appeal comes from the contrast between a masked Kung-Fu enthusiast and an interdimensional threat, while the survival-focused premise gives the story a sharply dark edge.
Battle Royal High School is a finished 1987 OVA told in a single episode. Start with episode 1 for the complete story, as the format presents this compact clash between Riki, Byoudo, and the forces converging around their worlds.
