Burn Up!
Maki, Reimi, and Yuka are capable crime fighters assigned to traffic patrol, a far less thrilling post than they expected. Their routine changes when Yuka is abducted by a white-slave organization controlled by a politically connected businessman. With the wider police force intimidated, Maki and Reimi must take the rescue into their own hands. They suit up in skin-tight battle armor, commandeer a tank, and confront a powerful criminal whose influence makes Yuka’s safe return anything but certain.
As an action OVA, Burn Up! pairs a straightforward police-rescue setup with an unapologetically direct, high-stakes tone. Its appeal comes from the contrast between ordinary traffic duty and the extraordinary response demanded by Yuka’s disappearance: two officers move from an overlooked assignment to armored intervention. The story also centers on institutional cowardice and the danger created when political connections shield a criminal, giving its compact premise a clear edge.
This finished 1991 OVA is a single-episode action anime. Start with episode 1 for the complete story of Maki and Reimi’s rescue effort.
