Chrono Crusade

Chrono Crusade

Chrno Crusade · クロノクルセイド

Set in America after World War I, Chrono Crusade follows the New York branch of the Order of Magdalene, a church-backed organization created to oppose demons appearing in growing numbers during the 1920s. Sister Rosette Christopher, young, impulsive, and armed with holy guns and bullets, works beside Chrno, her demon-hunting partner. Their successes come with a troublesome side effect: extensive property damage, much to the frustration of branch leader Sister Kate Valentine.

Even within their own headquarters, the pair inspires mixed reactions. Rosette is valued by Father Ewan Remington, the branch’s minister, and Edward Hamilton, the developer of its weapons, while Chrno leaves those around him uneasy. There is clearly more to him than his role suggests, just as the connection between him and Rosette raises questions. As the demonic threat grows, they must keep fighting, investigate its source, and place their lives in each other’s hands. Rosette also remains focused on a personal mission: finding her missing brother, Joshua.

The series combines supernatural danger with a strong sense of duty, institutional faith, and personal urgency. Its distinctive tension comes from the contrast between Rosette’s reckless determination and Chrno’s unsettling mystery, while their partnership links the larger demon crisis to a deeply personal search. Battles, damaged surroundings, and unanswered questions give the story an energetic yet ominous atmosphere.
