D・N・ANGEL

Daisuke Niwa reaches his fourteenth birthday as an awkward, unremarkable middle-school student with one clear hope: to tell his longtime crush, Risa Harada, how he feels. When she turns him down, his life takes a startling turn. Whenever his thoughts become fixed on Risa, Daisuke transforms into Dark Mousy, a notorious phantom thief. His ordinary school life is suddenly tied to a mysterious inheritance he never knew he carried.

Daisuke has no understanding of this unusual family legacy, but his mother knows exactly what it means. Even before he was born, she had been preparing him to steal prized works of art and revive the name of the elusive thief. As Daisuke tries to make sense of the change, uncertainty affects his connections with classmates and family alike. He also discovers that another inherited fate stands in his way, possibly belonging to the very classmate he least wants to oppose.

Action, fantasy, slice-of-life comedy, and romantic awkwardness meet in a story about identity, first love, family expectations, and inherited duty. Daisuke’s timid everyday self contrasts sharply with Dark Mousy’s infamous reputation, giving the premise both comic friction and genuine emotional confusion. The phantom-thief setup keeps personal relationships closely connected to the larger family mystery.
