Lunar Legend Tsukihime
Shiki Toono returns to the Toono household at the request of his sister Akiha, now its head after their father’s death. The move brings him back to a family life he barely remembers: since a childhood injury, much of his earlier past has been lost to him. He also sees lines on objects, a vision he can block only by wearing a special pair of glasses. These unusual perceptions make an already unsettling homecoming feel bound up with questions Shiki cannot answer.
On the day he moves back, Shiki encounters Arcueid Brunstud and, in a sudden fit of insanity, kills her with a knife. When she later appears alive, she asks him to act as her bodyguard. Their encounter sets Shiki on a path toward understanding the mysteries of his past. The story’s central tension comes from the contrast between his uncertain memories and extraordinary sight, and the impossible-seeming return that changes the course of his homecoming.
The premise brings together a family mystery, fractured memory, and an encounter that unsettles the boundary between life and death. Shiki’s unexplained vision gives the story a distinctive, eerie thread, while his return to the Toono household keeps the questions personal: what happened before his injury, and what does he not remember? Arcueid’s request adds another mystery without resolving the questions that have gathered around Shiki.
