Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine

Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine

Meitantei Conan: Kurogane no Submarine · 名探偵コナン 黒鉄の魚影

Set in the waters near Tokyo’s Hachijo-jima, this mystery drama brings Conan and the Detective Boys into the orbit of Pacific Buoy, an offshore project designed to link police security cameras from around the world. Engineers have gathered there to test facial-recognition technology, but the facility’s guarded purpose takes a darker turn when a kidnapping and sensitive information enter the picture.

During their visit, Conan receives a warning from Subaru Okiya, a graduate engineering student who is also FBI agent Shuichi Akai and the Black Organization’s Rye. A Europol employee has been killed in Germany by Jin of the organization, putting Conan on alert. He secretly enters Pacific Buoy and discovers that a female engineer has been taken. A USB drive from her possession then reaches the Black Organization, while danger closes in around Ai Haibara, who is also known as Shiho Miyano and Sherry.

Blending drama with mystery, the film builds its tension around surveillance technology, concealed identities, kidnapping, and the reach of a dangerous organization. Its setting gives the investigation a contained offshore backdrop, while the ties among Conan, Ai Haibara, Subaru Okiya, and the Black Organization add personal stakes to the case.
