Metropolis

Metropolis

メトロポリス

In the sprawling city of Metropolis, humans and robots share a society shaped by rigid divisions and prejudice. Japanese detective Shunsaku Ban arrives with his nephew Kenichi to investigate Dr. Laughton, a scientist suspected of violating human rights through organ trading. At the laboratory, Kenichi finds a girl who cannot remember her past and chooses to help her escape. As they flee from those pursuing her, Shunsaku’s investigation leads toward Duke Red, the hidden power behind the city. The girl’s identity lies at the heart of a contest over who will control Metropolis.

Sci-fi and mecha elements frame an adventure about social division, discrimination, and power. The city’s rising unrest gives the story a tense backdrop, while Kenichi’s effort to protect the mysterious girl connects its personal stakes to the wider struggle for Metropolis. Humans and robots living together make the setting central to its conflict.
