Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion

Shin Seiki Evangelion Movie: Air / Magokoro wo, Kimi ni · 新世紀エヴァンゲリオン劇場版 Air/まごころを、君に

After the last Angel is defeated, Nerv faces a new threat from human forces acting under Seele. Shinji Ikari is sunk in depression and caught between two impossible choices: embrace humanity as it exists, or give up the individuality that separates people. At the same time, inside a Nerv already compromised, Gendou Ikari and Rei Ayanami move toward Lilith while pursuing their own visions for what the world should become. As these conflicting aims converge, the future of humanity—and the universe—rests on decisions made under immense pressure. The approaching battle turns a personal crisis into a struggle over existence itself.

Rather than treating its mecha action as simple spectacle, the film places identity, isolation, human connection, and conflicting ideals at the center of its science-fiction drama. Its mood is bleak, intimate, and increasingly explosive: private uncertainty sits beside a threat on a universal scale. As an alternate ending to the original series, it gives the story a concentrated movie format while preserving the tension between inward psychological conflict and large-scale combat.

Released in 1997, this finished anime movie contains one episode. Begin with the original Neon Genesis Evangelion series, then watch The End of Evangelion as its alternate ending; it is a single feature rather than an ongoing series.
