One Piece Special: Open Upon the Great Sea! A Father's Huge, HUGE Dream!
Aboard Pirate Zap’s vessel, Bonnie and Max are worn down by life with the crew and want out, but they lack even the money needed to leave. Their chance arrives when Amanda and two younger children, all prisoners on the ship, catch wind of the plan. Amanda is the eldest and carries knowledge of a remarkable treasure discovered through her father’s work as a professional treasure hunter. She proposes a bargain: help the children get away, and Bonnie and Max can claim as much of the fortune as they want. The five manage a narrow escape and reach a small island, where they cross paths with Luffy and his crew.
Their brief refuge does not last. The Bayan Pirates are pursuing the same prize, and their leader captures Luffy and Amanda before taking them back to the pirate group. With the treasure now tied to the children’s fate, Luffy and the others must confront the Bayan Pirates while searching for the fortune Amanda’s father meant for his children. Amanda’s feelings give the adventure an emotional center: she has long disliked treasure and the life of adventure because her father was so often away chasing it. Through the unfolding conflict, she comes to understand what drove him.
Blending comedy with fantasy, action, and adventure, the special moves from a cramped pirate escape to a treasure hunt with a strong family theme. Its central tension is not only who will reach the prize, but how Amanda sees her absent father and the world he pursued.
