Sailor Moon
Fourteen-year-old Tsukino Usagi is a junior-high student whose clumsy, tearful nature regularly gets her in trouble at home and at school. After one especially bad day, she meets Luna, a black cat able to speak. Luna gives Usagi the ability to transform into Sailor Moon, placing her in the fight to defend the world from the Dark Kingdom and its ruler, Queen Beryl. Other allies join her, because this burden is not hers to carry alone.
Romance and comedy give the series its defining balance: Usagi's schoolgirl mishaps and emotional reactions sit beside a serious struggle with evil. The talking-cat encounter makes the transformation premise personal, while the promise of companions broadens the story beyond a lone hero. With a fourteen-year-old heroine at its center, the show pairs youthful vulnerability with a world-sized responsibility.
Released in 1992, Sailor Moon is a TV series with 46 episodes. Begin with episode 1 to meet Usagi and Luna and see how an especially bad day leads to an extraordinary new responsibility.
