Samurai 7

Samurai 7

サムライセブン

In a remote future on a world resembling Earth, an old conflict has left samurai with mechanical bodies. Kanna Village is struggling after a long period of peace, but hunger and raids by Nobuseri, formidable mechanized bandits, threaten its people. Kirara, the village’s water priestess, sets out with her younger sister Komachi and Rikichi, a heartbroken villager, to find protectors. They can offer only rice from their limited harvests, making every recruitment attempt uncertain. Their search eventually brings together seven samurai with different skills and levels of experience. The warriors must face the raiders and the merchants whose influence helps sustain the danger surrounding the village.

Blending science-fiction machinery with fantasy atmosphere and action-driven conflict, the series centers on survival, protection, and the clash between villagers, warriors, bandits, and merchants. Mechanical bodies and war technology stand beside farming, scarce food, and the village’s need for safety, creating a distinctive contrast. Samurai 7 is loosely based on Akira Kurosawa’s film Seven Samurai, reworking that foundation as a TV adventure with room for an ensemble of fighters and their varied specialties.

Released in 2004, this finished TV series contains 26 episodes. Start with episode 1 to meet the villagers’ delegation and follow the search for samurai before the battle against the Nobuseri takes shape.
